Iris Magdalene Schmidt is a Danish-Greek film director working at the intersection of film, storytelling, and technology.
She is known for using cutting-edge technology to tell stories in visually compelling ways.
Within fiction, Iris is specialized in unique universes and characters questioning national identities within social structures.
She has been at the forefront of AI and virtual production technology (leveraging game technology in film) since 2020, creating distinctive universes and characters. She brings these imaginative worlds to life across various platforms, including commercials, feature film, music videos, and short films.
Collaborating across creative industries, she looks at methods for developing storyworlds and how to tell stories.
Iris has also worked as Creative Director at Virsabi, a leading company in virtual production (VP), virtual reality (VR), and augmented reality (AR). Virsabi’s clients include GANNI, Red Bull, IKEA, Jabra, Mærsk, Pfizer, KVIK, and Bang & Olufsen, among others.
Her work has been featured in the Producers Guild of America magazine and presented at the Danish Film School’s film-tech conference PictureThis, where she showcased her work within the intersection of storytelling, technology, and future visions for filmmaking. Recently, she has presented her work with AI at the Danish television station TV2.
As a film director, Iris is represented by FERN.
